Catholic Adult Education Lingen (KEB)
The Catholic Adult Education Lingen (registered associoation) as member of the Catholic Adult Education Lower Saxony is a recognised educational institution in the federal state Lower Saxony. We develop education offers for the southern part of the Emsland County. Focal points of our work are lectures on education and child development, parent classes, parent courses and the qualification and further education of Parent-Child-Group leaders in the communities. Health education, e. g. Yogaclasses and lectures on healthy eating are other focal points.
Women, who look for new jobs or challenges after longterm maternity leave, can find qualification offers as child-minder or tourist guide in their villages in the Emsland. The participation in different European projects serves as impulse generator for our work. An interesting example for this is the “Generation Network Environment”. In this project senior citizens share their knowledge about nature and environment with members of their grandchildren`s generation. “What grandfather still knows” is the headline for a morning, that participants of this project spend with primary school-classes, Parent-Child groups or kindergarden groups in the near woods explaining fauna and flora.
The situation of working mums poses a challenge for familiy management in the Emsland as everywhere else. At the moment the qualification of child minders is being funded by the local government to improve day care facilities and thus enable more mothers to go back to full time work. consequently the chances for mothers on the job market.
The unemployment figures for the Emsland county are about 7.5 %, which is a little below national average (10.5 %). This is not least a result of the active employment policy in the region. The county government pushes qualification and funds special programmes for the reintegration of long-term unemployed and so called “difficult to place” persons. Qualification schemes for child minders and basic qualification for jobs in education and domestic economy are part of these programmes.
To actually get through to the disadvantaged group it is necessary to work with partners, who are already in contact with this group. We therefore cooperate with Caritasverband, Sozialdienst Kath. Frauen, the county government and similar welfare services and facilities.
